I improvised this at the piano in my Manhattan apartment one day when I was feeling really uninspired, and very sentimental, as a kind of torchlight or midnight oil-burning number that I thought might work as a hidden track on ‘Fun city’ but ended up archiving it until I thought to make ‘Saying Goodbye Is Exhausting’ a single for World AIDS Day.

The melancholy of the track, and its theatrical tone, seemed to be a nice
companion to the lead song, and it was actually really lovely to re-sing it and give it its own release as part of the EP.
